TRAVIS SCOTT’S COACHELLA 2025 SET SPARKS MIXED REACTIONS AND A $20,000 FINE FOR GOLDENVOICE

’s highly anticipated Coachella 2025 performance was nothing short of a spectacle, but the aftermath is generating as much buzz as the show itself. Headlining the second Saturday of the iconic music festival, Scott delivered an explosive set that thrilled many fans with high-octane visuals, surprise tracks, and theatrical elements. Yet, beyond the fanfare and the fireworks, his late-night slot also ended up costing Coachella’s parent company, Goldenvoice, a hefty $20,000 fine due to a curfew violation, making headlines across the industry.

Taking the stage after Green Day–whose own set was delayed by approximately 15 minutes due to a technical snag involving fireworks–Scott was already racing against time. Despite the delay not being his fault, Travis’s performance stretched just three minutes past Indio’s strict 1 a.m. curfew, automatically triggering a contractual penalty with the city. According to the agreement between Goldenvoice and the City of Indio, exceeding the curfew by up to five minutes results in an immediate $20,000 fine, with an additional $1,000 levied for every minute thereafter. Fortunately for the organizers, Scott’s overrun stopped within the initial five-minute grace window, limiting the financial damage to a single $20,000 hit.

The curfew violation was the only one recorded across both weekends of Coachella and the subsequent Stagecoach Festival in 2025–a notable contrast to previous years. In 2023, for instance, multiple headline sets, including those by Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean, resulted in cumulative fines exceeding $168,000. This year’s more disciplined schedule underscores how tightly the festival has worked to remain within city regulations, making Scott’s brief curfew breach stand out even more prominently.

Despite the fine, Scott’s performance was anything but ordinary. Fans were treated to a robust visual presentation that included a 60-piece marching band, pyrotechnics, and aerial stunts. He powered through stellar anthems like “SICKO MODE,” “Goosebumps,” and “Butterfly Effect,” while also unveiling unreleased material, namely “Dumb” and “Kick Out” which are expected to feature on his upcoming Jackboys 2 compilation. The crowd roared as Scott prowled the stage with his signature chaotic energy, but critical reception remained mixed. Some attendees were left wanting more due to the set’s late start, sound inconsistencies, and several abrupt song transitions that gave the show an uneven pace.

While Scott’s Coachella 2025 appearance reaffirmed his status as one of hip-hop’s most visually commanding performers, the fine has raised questions about festival logistics and accountability. In the end, Travis Scott’s night at Coachella proved to be both unforgettable and costly–not for him directly, but for the organizers. And while his fans may remember the fire, the theatrics, and the unreleased tracks, Goldenvoice execs will tap their pockets wistfully, knowing that they could have saved $20k.
