Arguably the most anticipated showcase of Lagos Fashion Week, Hertunba’s latest collection was a masterclass in elegance and cultural storytelling. The regal atelier presented a body of work that celebrated the modern woman, bold, rooted, and self-possessed. Creative Director Florentina delivered a vision that merged traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fluidity, using fabrics and forms that spoke to both heritage and innovation.
Aso Oke served as the foundation of the collection, reimagined through artful stripes in greens, blacks, blues, and silver. Dresses and kaftans flowed with purpose, each piece bearing the unmistakable touch of fine tailoring and detail. Fringed hems and sculptural silhouettes moved rhythmically down the runway, transforming each model into a living artwork.
The brand’s wearable art ethos came alive in the standout “Dona” top and dress, pieces that formed abstract facial features through their composition: straps meeting at the chest to evoke eyes, a triangular nose, and bold red lips. Hertunba’s mastery of texture and symbolism also shone through in hand-dyed dresses with signature handwoven prints, a 100% organic cotton piece adorned with scattered cowries, and a stunning blue “Tani” dress that captured the richness of African dye traditions.
More than a fashion moment, Hertunba’s presentation felt like a reaffirmation of feminine strength and creative continuity. Each garment was a conversation between the past and present, one stitched with reverence, artistry, and the quiet power of womanhood.
