The 2024 Africa Military Games is set for a kickoff, and the lineup for the opening ceremony is pure fire. Afrobeats giants Timi Dakolo, Yemi Alade, D’banj, and Olamide are locked and loaded to cock the stage at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abuja.
The Nigerian Army teased the heat on X on Tuesday, promising a spectacle that’ll go down in the books.
“The stage is set, and the legends are coming for the opening ceremony of #AMGA2024,” the post read. “Watch @Olamide, @iamdbanj, @yemialadee, and @timidakolo light up the opening ceremony like never before. It’s happening tomorrow.”
The games, now in their second edition, are flexing even bigger muscles this year. With 3,000 athletes from 48 African nations, 19 sports events will take over Abuja from November 18 to 30. It’s a battle of the fittest featuring both male and female athletes.
Expect adrenaline-pumping action across disciplines like football, basketball, combat swimming, and golf. Martial arts will take center stage with judo, taekwondo, and kickboxing. For fans of precision, there’s shooting and squash. The list also includes table tennis, lawn tennis, volleyball, and even obstacle crossing to keep the thrills rolling.
This isn’t about sports alone, it’s a celebration of grit, discipline, and the unity of African nations under one banner. And with an opening ceremony powered by four of Nigeria’s finest, the stage is set for history to be made.
