Sensational! That would be the word that best describes Wizkid‘s captivating live performance of Troubled Mind, the opening single from his recently released 6th studio album, Morayo, at the prestigious British Fashion Awards 2024.
Held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the event united global fashion’s elite, celebrating creativity, excellence, and change. Amidst the grandeur, Wizkid’s performance stood out as an emotional and unforgettable highlight of the night.
The performance began with the song’s electrifying intro by the legendary Fuji musician, K1 De Ultimate. Supported by the enchanting talking drum, the intro instantly transported the audience to the heart of Nigerian cultural celebrations, effortlessly reminiscent of the typical Saturday Owambe, so common amongst Nigerians. The fusion of Fuji rhythms with contemporary Afrobeat set a vibrant tone, giving a fresh perspective on the artistry behind Troubled Mind.
Every element of the live arrangement showcased remarkable finesse, from the high-octane saxophone interlude to the tender bowing of violins that added layers of emotional depth.
