WHY EVERYONE’S OBSESSED WITH KAI COLLECTIVE’S SUMMER LOOKS

London-based fashion brand, Kai Collective is taking over the internet and our closets with its recent series of collections. Founded by British-Nigerian, Fisayo Longe, Kai has remained consistent with its fresh takes on contemporary Afro-fashion, and one that attracts a diverse audience. After the success of its “Good Jeans” roll out back in February (which featured a catchy collab with Nigerian artist, BrazyKai showed no signs of slowing down.

What is now dubbed a “KAI Summer,” their “Meet Me” collection, launched in May of this year, was a colourful yet chic launch into Summer 2025, captioned with phrases like “Meet me where summer starts,” “Meet me for Sunday errands,” or “Meet us at checkout.” Kai sought to reintroduce themselves as a cultural marker of the modern fashion zeitgeist, and they’re not going anywhere soon.

The “Meet Me” collection was a culmination of abstract prints in various styles, dawned in a range of tones that mirror nature; sunny oranges and yellows, grass-like greens, dirt browns, and deep ocean blues, almost an ode to what defines the luxury of summer. It maintained its crowd favorites: silk kaftans, ruched and ruffled dresses, plisse and gathered sets, as well as newer designs like technical organza gowns and laser cut tops and skirts.

Not long after came a visit back home, joined by a launch of their debut collaboration with fellow Nigerian label Dye Lab. Both brands made a colorful splash at its pop-up hosted by Alara, Lagos which showcased multi-coloured and multi-printed cut-outs.

More recently, Kai solidified themselves as the undisputed brand of the summer with the release of their “Summer Drop 2,” a vintage-esque sequel to their “Meet Me” collection. Featuring bold colored jerseys that dawn the brand’s name in front paired with its signature logo-etched “Good Jeans,” Kai is expanding to a male audience as its campaign notably featured fashion influencer Victor Kunda.

#KaiSummer has gone beyond a trending tag to become a defining moment for Kai Collective and a broader cultural movement for Afro-fashion and Nigerian designers.
