The Vatican recently unveiled “Luce,” an anime-inspired mascot for the 2025 Jubilee Year, aimed at engaging younger generations. Designed by Simone Legno, co-founder of the tokidoki brand, Luce represents “light” and wears a yellow raincoat, symbolizing hope and pilgrimage.
Accompanied by a dog named Santino, Luce will appear at major events, including Lucca Comics and Games in Italy and Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, where the Vatican will host a pavilion themed “Beauty Brings Hope.”

Through this initiative, the Vatican hopes to connect with youth through familiar pop culture elements.
Archbishop Rino Fisichella emphasized that Luce and her story are designed to convey hope and faith amid life’s challenges.
