Uduak Betiku, Fashion artist and creative director at Gangstyling has unveiled her highly anticipated new collection, “Ola Gbajie” (translated as “Necks Should Break Looking At You”), which boldly reimagines Nigerian and African cultural regalia for the modern era.
The collection, which is a limited edition, draws inspiration from traditional motifs and merges them with cutting-edge design, creating a fusion of heritage and contemporary style.
“Ola Gbajie” celebrates the audacity and boldness of African culture, with pieces that feature intricate symbolism and dramatic silhouettes. Notable elements include the iconic “Isi Agu” inspired mesh and stunning coral embellishments that make each piece a true work of art. The collection’s design speaks to the audacity of the ancestors while positioning itself firmly in today’s digital and fashion-forward world.

The collection’s production involved a collaborative effort with a talented team. Uduak served as the creative director and stylist, with additional styling support from Sirdonkay and a project/styling manager role filled by Tgoldokorode. The glam team included House of Daffodil for makeup, 25th Fairy Hair for hairstyling, and photography by Eddeh Jr. The art direction was led by Anita Ashiru, while the set design was executed by AA Creatives.
The models featured in the collection include Joy Akhigbe, 7th Rebel, The Favour Lawrence, Moyosoore Olagunju, Faizah Shuaib, Precious Abari, and Mariam Fatusin, each bringing a unique presence to the powerful visual storytelling of the collection.
