Snoop Dogg’s fans can finally mark their calendars. The rap icon just dropped the release date for his next album, “Missionary,” which drops December 13.
Produced entirely by Dr Dre, this project is being hyped as the spiritual successor to Snoop’s 1993 classic, Doggystyle, and it’s their first full-length joint effort since that era-defining album hit shelves three decades ago.
The announcement came via Snoop’s social media, in true Snoop fashion—two Mormon missionaries knock on a door, only to be met by a woman in lingerie who tells them, “What the f***? Your ad said you were dedicated to missionary work.” Only Snoop could make an album rollout this bold, and fans are buzzing.
Snoop first hinted at Missionary in 2022, teasing it as his “30th anniversary to Doggystyle.” That debut went on to break records as the fastest-selling hip-hop album of its time, and it’s still considered an untouchable in the genre.
As for Missionary, Dr. Dre has been cryptically dropping details over the last few months, even hinting at a feature from Sting. Snoop recently confirmed that Jelly Roll would also make an appearance, while 50 Cent and Method Man have both hinted that they’re involved. Snoop and Dre, of course, go way back—from The Chronic and “Still D.R.E.” to the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show.
It’s been a long road for hip-hop’s favourite duo, and come December, they’re set to make history again.
