Pharrell Williams has just released a new track titled “Piece By Piece,” which serves as the title song for his upcoming LEGO-themed documentary. Directed by Morgan Neville, the film, also called Piece By Piece, chronicles Pharrell’s journey through his career and life, with him portrayed as a LEGO minifigure. In the song, Pharrell reflects on his path, singing, “I started a long time ago / I will write my own chronicle.” The documentary, animated through the iconic lens of LEGO, is set to hit theaters on October 11.
Pharrell also recently revealed a new LEGO collaboration—an elaborate 966-piece spaceship set called “Over the Moon,” created in partnership with the LEGO design team. Fans can now stream “Piece By Piece” on all major platforms.
In addition to his musical and design ventures, Pharrell Williams has announced the postponement of this year’s “Something in the Water Festival”, which was originally slated to take place on October 12 and 13 at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. In a statement posted on the festival’s official X account, Pharrell explained that the event is not yet ready to meet the high standard he envisions for his home state.
“Virginia doesn’t just deserve better, Virginia deserves THE BEST,” Pharrell shared. He added, “That’s why we’ve decided to push the festival to April 2025. It needs to be epic, and I promise it will be.” Pharrell, who is a native of Virginia, emphasized how important it is for him to honour his roots with an unforgettable experience, saying, “Virginia made me, and I want to give back with all the love it’s given me throughout my life.”
Fans who had already purchased tickets for the original dates will have the first opportunity to buy tickets for the new event in 2025. Previous performers at Something in the Water include Kid Cudi, Lil Wayne, The Clipse, Summer Walker, Grace Jones, and Kehlani. Despite the postponement, Pharrell promised that the long wait would be worth it.
