Off-White™ has made history by forming its first-ever partnership with a U.S. sports team, collaborating with the WNBA’s New York Liberty. The renowned streetwear label, established by the late Virgil Abloh, continues to blur the lines between fashion and athletics. This multi-year collaboration sees Off-White™ stepping in as the team’s official style and culture curator, further blending sports, fashion, and New York’s dynamic cultural scene.
To kick off the partnership, the Liberty players were presented with exclusive varsity jackets to wear during the team’s first playoff game, setting the tone for an innovative fusion of style and sportsmanship. As part of this ongoing collaboration, Off-White™ will introduce unique fashion capsules annually while engaging in meaningful community initiatives. The brand will also collaborate with Liberty players to honor significant moments like Women’s History Month, Black History Month, and Pride.
The announcement follows Off-White™’s debut at New York Fashion Week, with Off-White™’s Cristiano Fagnani emphasizing the transformative power of this partnership. “Off-White is a force for change, creating platforms for groundbreaking talents and cultural forces. The New York Liberty are pioneers in their field, demanding attention and making bold moves. We’re excited to collaborate with such an inspiring team and push boundaries to create something that transcends the sports arena,” Fagnani said.
New York Liberty CEO Keia Clarke added, “WNBA players are being recognized as style icons and culture drivers in new and exciting ways. This partnership with Off-White™ comes at a pivotal moment to create experiences that merge sports, fashion, and culture in ways that go beyond the basketball court.”
Fans were treated to a first glimpse of the custom Off-White™ varsity jackets during the Liberty’s opening playoff game at Barclays Center. A limited number of jackets will be available for customization and pre-order at select playoff games, offering fans the chance to own a piece of this landmark collaboration.
