Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against streamer Jesse Keighin, who streams under the name EveryGameGuru, accusing him of streaming pirated and emulated Nintendo Switch games, including several unreleased titles. According to a report by 404 Media, Nintendo is seeking $7.5 million in damages—$150,000 per copyright infringement.
The company’s lawsuit details that it initially issued multiple cease-and-desist letters to Keighin. However, after his channels were taken down, he reportedly circumvented the bans by creating new streaming accounts to continue sharing the pirated games.
In a bold move, Keighin allegedly sent a letter to Nintendo, boasting that he has “a thousand burner channels” and could “do this all day,” despite the company’s enforcement actions. Nintendo’s suit cites over 50 instances of alleged infringement, including at least ten unreleased games, further intensifying the legal consequences Keighin may face if found liable.
Nintendo is known for its stringent stance on intellectual property protection, frequently issuing takedown notices to enforce its rights and deter piracy within the gaming community.
This lawsuit, however, represents an escalation in its approach, particularly in response to what the company perceives as blatant defiance.
