The Miami Heat celebrated Dwyane Wade’s iconic career by unveiling a statue in his honour outside the Kaseya Center, marking a lasting tribute to the three-time NBA champion. Wade, who spent 15 remarkable seasons with the Heat, was instrumental in the team’s success, leading them to championships in 2006, 2012, and 2013.
Standing alongside fans, Wade witnessed the statue reveal as the crowd counted down, revealing his legendary “This is my house” pose—a moment immortalized from his unforgettable 2009 game-winning shot against the Chicago Bulls in double overtime.
During the ceremony, Wade expressed his gratitude, stating, “This is nothing I ever thought I’d experience… I picked up a basketball to change my family’s life.” With career stats that include 23,165 points and 13 All-Star appearances, Wade’s impact on the sport and the city of Miami is undeniable.
The statue, crafted by renowned artists Omri Amrany and Oscar León (creators of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant’s statues), stands as a testament to Wade’s legacy. The Kaseya Center now features a dedicated wall highlighting his achievements, creating a space for fans to celebrate the career of one of Miami’s greatest athletes.
Wade’s commitment to authenticity in the statue’s design meant he collaborated closely with the artists, ensuring it captured the essence of his career.
He retired in 2019 with a triple-double in his final game, was also inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023, further cementing his place among basketball’s elite.
