Nigerian fashion brand, Meji Meji has unveiled the new Black Stars jersey, marking a significant milestone in African fashion and sports. Founded in 2020 by Tolu Oye, Meji Meji is renowned for its vibrant designs that celebrate the fusion of Nigerian and African American cultures. The brand’s name, “Meji Meji,” meaning “double” in Yoruba, this dual heritage, reflecting its commitment to showcasing black culture with boldness and liberation.

The newly unveiled jersey features a red kit adorned with yellow, black and green accents on the collar, symbolizing the Pan-African colors. Faint Adinkra symbols are subtly embedded into the fabric, paying homage to Ghanaian heritage. It is complemented by a prominent black star on the chest—a nod to the team’s nickname, the Black Stars.
This collaboration between Meji Meji and the Ghanaian national team signifies a unifying moment in African sportswear, blending contemporary streetwear aesthetics with traditional African symbolism.
