Beauty-meets-fashion in a playful, culture-rich twist: skincare innovator Topicals has teamed up with Lagos-born, nostalgia-inspired label Meji Meji for a cheeky drop that celebrates self-acceptance and creative roots. Designed by Tolu Oye of Meji Meji, elevated for its brightly hued graphic tees, the collaboration centers around a kitschy cropped tee in deep blue, playfully declaring “Stop Staring At My Zits.” With bold white lettering contrasting against the rich hue, the tee’s lived-in vibe makes it ideal for summer days and seamless as the temps cool down.
Beyond the visual punch, there’s cultural and communal resonance: Oye notes that the collaboration reflects both brands’ missions of “care, community, and cultural resonance.” Beyond a wardrobe drop, it’s “a convergence of two brands united in championing self-expression and heritage with bold, unapologetic energy.”
Looking ahead, Meji Meji is gearing up to celebrate its fifth anniversary with an upcoming collection titled “Badge of Glory.” Launching online on August 16, the collection spans hats, dresses, skirts, tops, and bikinis, each adorned with the new MM badge, a design motif inspired by ‘80s and early ‘90s bamboo earrings, symbolizing cultural pride and identity. In one preview, a mini skirt in the same deep blue features a striking silver MM badge that pops against the fabric.
The good news? If you’re eager to shop now, the “Stop Staring At My Zits” tee is already available on Topicals’ and Meji Meji’s site.
