Kendrick Lamar is gearing up for a monumental year, with the Compton rapper set to take the stage as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans. Fresh off the buzz surrounding his high-profile feud with Drake—which resulted in a series of chart-topping tracks, including the explosive anthem “Not Like Us”—Kendrick is showing no signs of slowing down. The NFL officially announced that Lamar will perform at Super Bowl LIX in February, in partnership with Roc Nation and Apple Music.
The highly anticipated halftime show will air live on Fox from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, marking Roc Nation’s continued role in curating the performance. Roc Nation, helmed by JAY-Z, has been overseeing the halftime show since 2020, following their 2019 partnership with the NFL, which focuses on entertainment programming and social justice initiatives. This year’s show will be produced by Jesse Collins, directed by Hamish Hamilton, and brought to life by DPS Productions.
This isn’t Kendrick’s first time commanding the Super Bowl stage. He previously joined a star-studded lineup in 2022 with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Mary J. Blige for the NFL’s first all-hip-hop halftime performance. Now, as the solo headliner, Lamar is ready to remind the world why he remains a dominant force in music. In a statement about the performance, Kendrick said, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
Kendrick’s journey to the Super Bowl Halftime spotlight is well-deserved. The 17-time Grammy winner skyrocketed to fame with his 2012 album Good Kid, M.A.A.D City and made history by winning a Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for his critically acclaimed album DAMN. Most recently, his much-publicized beef with Drake has dominated headlines, further solidifying his place at the center of the cultural conversation. His Juneteenth performance at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, where he performed “Not Like Us” multiple times, was a triumphant display of his musical prowess.
