Jimmy Choo is turning back the clock in dazzling style to celebrate its 30th anniversary, and fans of early-2000s glamour are in for a treat. With a special capsule titled The Archive: 1997–2001, the luxury shoe brand is breathing new life into eight of its most legendary designs from its formative years. Curated by Creative Director Sandra Choi alongside designer Conner Ives and fashion writer Alexander Fury, the collection is a nostalgic and fashion-forward homage to the shoes that shaped Jimmy Choo’s legacy and pop culture itself.
Each design has been faithfully recreated using more sustainable materials such as printed leather instead of python, reflecting a modern sensibility while preserving the spirit of the originals. With only 2,025 pairs available globally–mirroring the year of the capsule’s release–these styles are as exclusive as they are historic.
At the heart of this revival is the lilac feathered slingback known as “72138,” famously worn by Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. It hasn’t seen the light of day since its original release, and its return is bound to send longtime fans into a fashion frenzy. But that’s not the only archival treasure making a comeback. The collection also features “The Strappy,” a minimalist satin thong sandal from Spring/Summer 1997 that captures the understated elegance of the era.
“The Leo” and “The Bow” reintroduce animal prints with leopard grosgrain, snake-embossed textures, and flirtatious bows, further nods to Bradshaw’s unforgettable wardrobe. “The Boot,” initially crafted from real python, now stuns in a printed alternative that doesn’t compromise on boldness.
“The Slide” returns in mint green nubuck, offering a rare flat option from 1999 that speaks to evolving dress codes. There’s also “The Thong,” featuring a gleaming silver chainmail vamp, evoking the futuristic edge of Y2K fashion. Finally, “The Flower” channels the brand’s romantic roots with flourishes that feel both archival and timeless.
Launching on May 20, 2025, prices for the collection start at £595, a justifiable range for what are essentially wearable pieces of fashion history. Jimmy Choo’s The Archive: 1997–2001 not only showcases the label’s signature craftsmanship but also serves as a cultural time capsule. At a time when fashion is increasingly obsessed with archival revivals and retro glam, the collection captures the zeitgeist perfectly, bridging eras, aesthetics, and audiences. Whether you’re a collector, a longtime fan of Sex and the City, or a new devotee drawn to the mystique of vintage luxury, this reissue promises the perfect blend of nostalgia and novelty.
