IAMISIGO DEBUTS SS26 COLLECTION AT COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK

Fresh off winning the prestigious Zalando Visionary Award, Nigerian designer Bubu Ogisi of Iamisigo made a powerful debut at Copenhagen Fashion Week, showcasing a collection that pushed the boundaries of fashion, technology, and tradition.

The collection, an exploration of the body as a technological device, was broken into four conceptual layers: mind, body, spirit, and emotion. Each layer came alive through unconventional materials like glass, plastic, and metal, woven seamlessly with rich textures and raw craftsmanship. The result was a visceral experience, rooted in storytelling, sensory connection, and the timeless language of handwork.

Drawing from ancient knowledge systems, Ogisi used horsehair for wigs and infused the collection with symbolic meaning, creating garments that felt both futuristic and sacred. The emphasis on material play, texture, and tactile emotion stood out, reminding viewers that in an age of AI and automation, the human hand remains one of the most powerful tools for connection.

Each piece in the collection was handmade, a testament to Iamisigo’s ongoing commitment to slow fashion, heritage, and artistry. The show felt like a ceremony, bold yet intimate, philosophical yet grounded in form, firmly placing Iamisigo as one of the most daring voices in contemporary African design.
