FIRST LOOK: SELEHE BEMBURY X PUMA

Renowned designer Salehe Bembury has partnered with PUMA Hoops to design the brand’s next signature basketball sneaker. Announced on July 29, 2024, this collaboration aims to merge Bembury’s distinctive design approach with PUMA’s performance-driven basketball line. Beyond footwear design, Bembury will also play a pivotal role in recruiting PUMA’s next signature athlete, reflecting his deep-rooted connection to basketball culture. 

Now, 6 months after, we have a first look at the collaboration. Bembury shared his creations on Instagram.

Bembury, known for his innovative work with brands like New Balance and Crocs, expressed enthusiasm about this new venture. He stated, “As a ’90s kid from New York City, I’ve played basketball my whole life and have a deep history, emotion, and nostalgia for the sport.” This partnership offers him an opportunity to infuse personal narratives into his designs, bridging his passion for basketball with his design expertise. 

PUMA’s Global Head of Basketball, Max Staiger, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, noting that Bembury’s ability to blend sport, culture, and fashion will introduce a fresh perspective to PUMA Hoops. This partnership is anticipated to produce groundbreaking designs that resonate with both athletes and sneaker enthusiasts, further solidifying PUMA’s presence in the basketball market.
