FENDI MARKS 100 YEARS WITH A STAR-STUDDED FW 25 MILAN RUNWAY SHOW

In 1925, Adele and Edoardo Fendi established a modest fur and leather shop on Via del Plebiscito in Rome, laying the foundation for what would become a global luxury fashion powerhouse. Their dedication to exquisite craftsmanship and innovative design quickly garnered attention, leading to the opening of a second boutique on Via Piave in 1932, which became a favored destination for both locals and tourists. The couple’s five daughters—Paola, Anna, Franca, Carla, and Alda—joined the family business in 1946, each bringing unique talents that propelled Fendi into the international spotlight. A significant milestone was the collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld in 1965, who introduced the iconic double ‘F’ logo and played a pivotal role in shaping Fendi‘s creative direction for decades. 

Fast forward to February 26, 2025, Fendi commemorated its centennial with a spectacular Fall/Winter 2025 runway show during Milan Fashion Week. The event was a testament to the brand’s enduring legacy and forward-thinking vision. Silvia Venturini Fendi, the granddaughter of the founders and the current artistic director of accessories and menswear, orchestrated the celebration, emphasizing a blend of tradition and modernity. She expressed her intent to focus on personal memories and the brand’s evolution rather than solely relying on archival designs. 

The runway show was a family affair, highlighting Fendi’s generational continuity. Dardo and Tazio, the seven-year-old great-great-grandsons of Adele and Edoardo, made a charming appearance, symbolizing the brand’s commitment to its roots while looking ahead. Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Silvia’s daughter, contributed to the event by designing jewelry pieces that adorned the models, further embedding the family’s creative influence into the collection. 

The Fendi 100th anniversary runway show in Milan was graced by an impressive lineup of esteemed models, reflecting the brand’s rich history and influence in the fashion industry. Veteran supermodels Yasmin Le Bon and Penelope Tree brought a touch of classic elegance to the catwalk, their presence paying homage to Fendi’s enduring legacy. Liya Kebede, known for her versatile and timeless appeal, showcased the brand’s commitment to diversity and global representation. Eva Herzigova, with her iconic stature in the modeling world, added to the show’s star power. The inclusion of these renowned figures underscored Fendi’s celebration of its centennial milestone, blending the past and present of fashion excellence.

Faux fur coats, ribbed knit dresses, and intricately designed leather pieces dominated the runway, showcasing the brand’s ability to innovate while honoring its heritage. Notably, the iconic Baguette and Peekaboo bags were reimagined with contemporary twists, including fuzzy textures and appliqué details, reaffirming their status as timeless accessories.

Sarah Jessica Parker, renowned for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in “Sex and the City,” attended the show, paying homage to the Fendi Baguette bag that her character famously popularized. She donned a ribbed knit dress paired with a chocolate cashmere coat and accessorized with a pink crystal-embellished Baguette, epitomizing her enduring connection to the brand. 

Bang Chan, a member of the South Korean boy band Stray Kids and a newly appointed Fendi ambassador, made his debut appearance at the show. He arrived in a sophisticated all-cream ensemble, featuring an off-the-shoulder knit top over a camel tank, complemented by crepe pants and white sneakers. His presence highlighted Fendi’s expanding reach into the global music scene and its appeal to younger audiences.

Silvia Venturini Fendi emphasized the importance of evolving while staying true to the brand’s core values.
