DURAN LANTINK DOUBLES DOWN ON BOLDNESS AT JEAN PAUL GAULTIER

Dutch designer Duran Lantink returned with his second collection for Jean Paul Gaultier, once again embracing the house’s legacy of bold experimentation and fearless design.

The collection leaned heavily into exaggerated silhouettes, clashing prints, and sharp tailoring, all elements that echo the rebellious DNA that Jean Paul Gaultier built over decades. Lantink revisited pieces from the brand’s archives, reinterpreting them with a contemporary twist while staying true to the spirit of the label.

Several looks referenced past Gaultier moments. A pinstripe suit with a gathered waist nodded to the Spring/Summer 2016 era, while knit pieces originally seen in the Autumn/Winter 1990 collection were reworked into sculpted bodysuits. The show also revived the iconic cropped bomber jacket, a silhouette previously seen in Gaultier collections from 1985, 1988, and 2002.

Rather than simply replicating the archive, Lantink reshaped it through his own design language. The result was a collection that balanced heritage references with playful exaggeration, reinforcing his growing connection with the house.

With this latest outing, Lantink proved he isn’t afraid to push boundaries while still honouring the provocative vision that made Jean Paul Gaultier one of fashion’s most influential maisons.
