The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards are set to bring together some of the biggest names in music, entertainment, and social media influencers, all convening at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York. Airing live on Wednesday night, the show promises a mix of “supersized performances, epic tributes, and unforgettable appearances,” as MTV honors the most outstanding music videos of the past year.
This year’s star-studded event will be hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, who is also slated to perform. Joining her for a much-anticipated opening performance is rap icon Eminem. In addition to the musical festivities, MTV will commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the September 11 attacks by making donations to 9/11 Day and Tuesday’s Children.
The performance lineup is packed with talent, including Sabrina Carpenter, LISA, Halsey, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, Benson Boone, Lenny Kravitz, Anitta, Karol G, LL Cool J, and Shawn Mendes. Additionally, Katy Perry will receive the prestigious Video Vanguard Award, marking her return to the MTV stage for the first time since 2017.
MTV also has some surprises in store, with extra performances from LE SSERAFIM, Jessie Murph, and Teddy Swims before and during the show. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live across MTV’s global network, airing on BET, VH1, Comedy Central, and more. A simultaneous broadcast will take place on Univision, with a replay scheduled for UNIMÁS later in the evening.
Some of the top nominees this year include Taylor Swift with 12 nods, Post Malone with 11, and Eminem with 8. Artists like Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, Sabrina Carpenter, and SZA also secured multiple nominations.
First-time VMA nominees making waves include Burna Boy, Coco Jones, Jelly Roll, Tyler Childers, and LE SSERAFIM. With Burna Boy’s nomination, excitement is high for what could be a memorable night for the Nigerian star.
