“At its core, childhood is filled with everyday adventures, where the ordinary feels magical, and anything seems possible,” said Matthieu Blazy, creative director of Bottega Veneta.
Blazy, known for his craftsmanship and visionary approach, has redefined the house’s iconic woven leather pieces. His unique perspective, rooted in both technical expertise and a playful imagination, was on full display in Bottega Veneta’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection at Milan Fashion Week. “As children, we aren’t confined by traditional expectations or conventions. The world is open to strange possibilities and wonder, where even the impossible feels real. This collection is about sincerity triumphing over strategy,” Blazy explained.
On the runway, this theme of “sincerity over strategy” came through with a fresh take on power dressing, featuring oversized leather collars and relaxed shoulder seams. The collection embraced material experimentation, with everything from leather evening wear to tropical-weight merino wool and slubbed striped shirting in jacquard patterns.
Adding to the playful atmosphere were animal motifs, including bold prints and details like fish stoles, rabbit-inspired accents, and frog designs that influenced the color palette. These creatures appeared throughout the accessories as well, from fluffy mules to whimsical jewellery.
Bags were another highlight of the show, with leather grocery bags styled to mimic plastic, bricolage totes, and the brand’s signature Andiamo bag — all designed to embody a sense of “joyous wandering.” The collection encapsulated Blazy’s vision of fashion as an adventure, blending innovation with a lighthearted, whimsical touch.
