Bazaar Magazine: Kendrick Lamar Says ‘Not Like Us’ Is The Energy Of Who He Is

Kendrick Lamar recently graced the cover of Harper’s Bazaar for their November 2024 issue, where he delved deep into the significance of his diss track “Not Like Us,” which made headlines earlier this year. 

In a conversation with fellow artist SZA, Kendrick shared that the song reflects the kind of man he strives to be—one with strong morals, values, and a willingness to acknowledge his mistakes.

He also emphasized that being vulnerable, something he learned later in life, has been crucial to his growth. “If I understood the power of vulnerability earlier, I could have had more depth and more reach to the guys that were around me in the neighborhood coming up.”

The interview also touched on Lamar’s ongoing evolution, as he expressed that music is just the beginning for him, a “vessel” towards a larger, more mysterious goal that he feels is yet to be revealed.
