BARCELONA RENEWS LONG-TERM DEAL WITH NIKE

Barcelona has decided to stay with Nike, signing a very profitable new contract with the sports brand that will last until 2038. The club expects to earn around €1.7 billion over this period. Puma made an offer, which Nike then matched.

There had been rumors that Barcelona would end its contract with Nike in 2028, but the club has now agreed on a long-term deal. This partnership makes Nike the club’s main and official technical partner for all teams, both professional and amateur. Together, they will work on product design, distribution, and sales growth worldwide.

The official statement from the club reads in part, “FC Barcelona and Nike, two leading brands in the sport industry, are pleased to announce a new start with a multi-year partnership agreement, starting effective this season, that brings a new collaborative strategic partnership model between the two organizations.

This new partnership consolidates Nike as a Main Partner of the Club and Official Technical Partner across all professional and amateur teams, bringing a unique model that strengthens the brands association and fuels the global retail and licensing business growth.

Nike has a key strategic role in the Club’s Retail Operations and together with Barça Licensing & Merchandising will join forces in the development of specific plans related to product creation, supply chain and global distribution…”

Barcelona and Nike have worked together since 1998, achieving major successes across both men’s and women’s teams, including four Champions League titles and several league championships.

The new contract also includes a €158 million signing bonus for Barcelona, paid over 14 years, with an annual income expected to average €127 million.

Barcelona will face Real Sociedad on Sunday. With manager Hansi Flick, who has promoted young academy players, the club is aiming for a strong season.
