On December 25th, 2024, Christmas Day, Nigerian afrobeats Diva, Ayra Starr, took over the iconic Flytime Festival, delivering to her audience a stellar performance and a showcase of her charisma and stage persona. Her performance was truly amazing–a beautiful Christmas gift to her loving fans that served as the perfect conclusion to an amazing week of festivities at the 2024 edition and the 20th anniversary of the Flytime Fest.
Opening in a most captivating manner with her 2021 hit, “Bloody Samaritan,” Ayra ran through a repertoire of amazing songs.
From her older tracks like “Away,” “Fashion Killer” and “Beggie Beggie,” to more recent tracks like “Sability,” “Commas,” “Goodbye (Warm Up)” and ” Last Heartbreak Song” amongst a host of other sizzling tracks. Her set was beyond impressive as her beautiful voice was accompanied by skillfully choreographed dance routines with an amazing set of dancers charging each song with energy and spirit.
The icing on an already sumptuous cake was the presence of some of the music industry’s most talented and charismatic artists as they joined Ayra to ignite the stage. The Queen herself, Tiwa Savage, made an appearance, joining Ayra to perform their collaborative track, “Stamina.” With the sensational Darkoo, Ayra performed their track, “Disturbing U.” Ayo Maff also came through and they both performed the unreleased remix version of Ayo Maff’s hit single, “Are You There.”
It was all love from her fellow MAVIN RECORDS signees with Magixx, Crayon and Rema performing with her. Ayra and Magixx gave a beautiful rendition of the remixed version of Magixx’s hit song, “Love Don’t Cost A Dime,” and she joined forces with Crayon, as they performed their oh-so-amazing collaboration “Ngozi.”
Rema did a whole stage takeover as he energetically performed his hit songs “Azaman” and “Ozeba” with the sabi girl adding ginger as he performed.
Truly for everyone present at the final night of Flytime Fest 2024, a time was had. Good vibes and pure energy, riding high on the waves of beautiful music–that is how best to describe it.
Ayra Starr fully exhibited her star energy and it was dazzlingly bright for all to see. It’s no wonder the fans who were present can’t stop talking about the concert.
With such a beautiful conclusion to an amazing lineup of festivities, all that is left to do is enjoy memories made (for those who partook) or look forward to being part of the Flytime Fest tradition when it comes around again, next year.
