AYRA STARR DROPS SPECTACULAR MUSIC VIDEO FOR “JAZZY’S SONG”

Ayra Starr, the Nigerian Afropop sensation signed to Mavin Records, has only yesterday, released the music video for “Jazzy’s Song,” a standout track from her 2024 album, The Year I Turned 21. This song serves as a heartfelt tribute to Don Jazzy, the influential music producer and founder of Mavin Records, who played a pivotal role in Ayra Starr’s career.

“Jazzy’s Song” is the 12th track on Ayra Starr’s sophomore album, The Year I Turned 21, which comprises 14 tracks that showcase her versatility and growth as an artist. Produced by the talented P.Priime, the song blends Afrobeats rhythms with soulful melodies, creating an infectious tune that resonates with listeners. Notably, the track samples “You Bad” from Wande Coals Mushin 2 Mo’Hits album, produced by Don Jazzy in 2009, adding a layer of nostalgia and homage to Don Jazzy’s earlier work.

The newly released music video for “Jazzy’s Song” visually encapsulates the essence of the track. A collaboration with Coke Studio, the video’s vibrant and engaging representation perfectly aligns with Ayra Starr’s artistic persona and the song’s celebratory tone. The sentimental reference to Beyonce’s first solo album cover, is touching–a shout out to the Queen of harmonies herself. Even more touching and sweet is the opening scene in which young Ayra Starr can be seen heartily enjoying the cheers of the oh-so-massive crowd before her–her reflection in the mirror.

The choreography by Ayra and her dancers is a thrilling watch as the coordination displayed is seamless. The videographer certainly showed out, with the perfect and creative transitions from scene to scene. We even get to see Don Jazzy himself as he energetically directs a studio session with Ayra in the video. In terms of looks, Ayra Starr ate and left no crumbs, looking absolutely stunning in every single fit–every single one. Her confidence? absolutely unmatched, with an aura that even the goddesses of Olympus would envy.

Jazzy’s Song” is more than just a musical piece; it’s a cultural acknowledgment of Don Jazzy’s profound impact on Afrobeats and Nigerian pop culture, a testament to her growth as an artist and her appreciation for the pioneers of the Afrobeats genre. The release of its music video adds a visual dimension to the tribute, offering fans a deeper connection to the song’s message and Ayra Starr’s artistic journey.
