AUDEMARS PIGUET ROYAL OAK “SKELETON” IS NOW DISCONTINUED

Audemars Piguet has officially discontinued its Royal Oak Skeleton models, marking the end of a significant era for the luxury watchmaker. Renowned for their intricate openworked designs that showcase the meticulous craftsmanship of their movements, these timepieces have been highly coveted by collectors and enthusiasts alike. The discontinuation follows the brand’s tradition of retiring specific models to make way for new innovations and designs.

The Royal Oak Skeleton series has seen various iterations over the years, including the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked in black ceramic, introduced in 2019 , and the Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked models released in 2024 . These watches have been celebrated for their aesthetic appeal and technical prowess, often commanding high prices at auctions and among private collectors. For instance, a Royal Oak Skeleton Tourbillon Date in platinum was auctioned for CHF 581,250 in 2022.

The discontinuation of the Royal Oak Skeleton models is expected to increase their desirability and value in the secondary market. Collectors may see this as an opportunity to acquire these timepieces before they become even more scarce. As Audemars Piguet continues to evolve its offerings, enthusiasts anticipate the introduction of new models that will uphold the brand’s legacy of innovation and excellence in watchmaking.
