ASAKE RELEASES VIBRANT VIDEO FOR “WHINE” FEATURING LUDMILLA, SHOWCASING CROSS-CULTURAL EXCELLENCE

Afrobeats sensation Asake has unveiled the official music video for Whine, a standout track from his critically acclaimed 2024 album Lungu Boy. The song, which features Brazilian star Ludmilla, is a masterful blend of Afrobeats and Brazilian funk, celebrating sensuality, attraction, and carefree energy. Directed by renowned Brazilian filmmaker Rafael Carmo, and co-directed by outstanding Nigerian director, Walter Banks, the video already garnered over One million views on YouTube within the span of 48 hour, reflecting the massive anticipation and global appeal of the collaboration.

Shot on location in the vibrant streets of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the video immerses viewers in the dynamic culture of the city. From the beautiful streets, to the exquisite beaches, every scene is a vibrant celebration of life and rhythm, mirroring the infectious energy of the track itself. Rafael Carmo’s direction expertly captures the essence of the Brazilian aesthetic, with the portrayal of extremely attractive women (a feature that has become known as the norm when it comes to Brazilian women), athletic chaps doing wheelies on bicycles and of course, lots of sensual and heartwarming scenes, creating a visual narrative that complements the very nature of the song.

The costumes in the video are equally captivating. Asake sports a series of bold, contemporary streetwear, portraying the cool and casual vibe of the video’s themes and settings. Ludmilla, on the other hand, stuns in an array of eye-catching ensembles that highlight her Brazilian heritage. She sports a casual and visually appealing look as she serves face and body in cute daisy dukes and a bra top–a look that’s expertly mirrored by her dancers.

The video is rich with visual symbolism, including sequences that highlight the universal language of dance as a connector of cultures. The pulsating beats of the song are matched by the fluid and electrifying dance routines, making every scene a feast for the eyes. The creativity exhibited on the view is beyond impressive and it’s particularly noticeable with scenes such as the one showing several guys, wearing jerseys on which the lyrics of the song is printed and they’re shown in time with the words being sung.

The release of the Whine video is yet another milestone in Asake’s meteoric rise. With its vibrant visuals, authenticity, and global appeal, the video has resonated with fans worldwide, further bridging the gap between Afrobeats and international music genres and cementing Asake’s status as an exceptional artist who continues to push creative boundaries and showcase Afrobeats on a global stage.
