Asake, Amarae Feature On Pitchfork’s 100 Best Albums of 2020s so far

Pitchfork’s latest release celebrates the best albums of the 2020s, and superstars Amaarae and Asake top the list.

Amaarae’s “Fountain Baby” secures the 20th spot, while Asake’s “Mr. Money With The Vibe” secures the 27th.

Pitchfork explains that Asake’s Palladium Times Square show was PURE MAGIC! The crowd, a vibrant mix of Black East Coasters, West Africans, and West Indians, sang along to “Peace Be Unto You (PBUY)” and “Dupe” like it was a national anthem. His debut album is an organic fusion of hip-hop, dancehall, house, and amapiano – a game-changer.

Meanwhile, Amaarae’s “Fountain Baby” is a MASTERCLASS in sensuality, anger, and freedom. No features? No problem! She silences doubters, showcasing her versatility and depth. “Angels in Tibet” and “Big Steppa” are testaments to her artistic leap, the report added.

Asake and Amaarae are notably the only African stars to feature on this list.
