Known for his sharp lyricism and fresh perspective, which he showcased on outstanding singles like; BAND4BAND featuring Lil Baby, Gen-Z luv and Bolide Noir, Central Cee’s ability to merge grime, drill, and trap music with mainstream appeal certainly stood out and it has certainly made him a household name and a global ambassador for British rap.
Tems, the Nigerian songstress whose soulful vocals have captivated the world, had another groundbreaking year. In 2024, she released her highly anticipated album, Born In The Wild, that explored themes of love, resilience, and identity. The album was a global success, climbing high on multiple charts globally and in fact earning her three Grammy nominations. Tems has continued to blaze her own unique trail in the music industry, securing her place as a leading figure in the Afrobeat renaissance.
Representing South Africa, Tyla had a breakout year in 2024, fueled by her infectious blend of pop, amapiano, and R&B. Her debut self titled album, Tyla, became a global sensation, earning her international acclaim and comparisons to some of the biggest names in music as well as winning the South African Music Awards. Tyla’s ability to fuse South African sounds with a global pop sensibility has positioned her as one of the most exciting new artists to watch.
Finally, Jamaica’s YG Marley carried the torch for reggae in 2024, bringing a fresh energy to the genre while staying true to its roots. With tracks that infused reggae with elements of dancehall like “Praise Jah In The Moonlight,” “Survival” featuring Lauryn Hill, YG Marley’s music resonated with a new generation of listeners. His powerful performances and socially conscious lyrics earned him a dedicated following and made him a standout name in the global music scene.
