The Governors Ball Music Festival, often referred to simply as Gov Ball, is one of New York City’s premier music festivals. It was founded in 2011 by Jordan Wolowitz, Tom Russell, and Yoni Reisman of Founders Entertainment. Initially held on Governors Island, the festival quickly outgrew its original venue due to its growing popularity. Over the years, it has moved to various locations, including Randall’s Island and Citi Field.

The festival kicks off with a bang as Tyler, The Creator and Benson Boone take center stage. Tyler, a multifaceted artist, brings his Grammy-winning creativity and high-energy rap and performance style to the event while Benson Boone, known for his emotive vocals and chart-topping hits, offers a contrasting yet complementary dynamic.
The day also includes performances by T-Pain, an auto-tune pioneer and long-time hitmaker, and other star artists like Tyla and The Backseat Lovers. Rising talents such as Artemas, Wave to Earth, and Lexa Gates ensure an unforgettable experience for attendees looking to discover new favorites.
The final day of the festival features Hozier and Glass Animals as the headline acts. Hozier, with his soulful voice and poetic as well as indepth lyricism, is sure to captivate the audience with his many many hit songs. Glass Animals, celebrated for their innovative and unique sound as well as vibrant live shows, promise to close the festival on a high note with their energetic stage performance.
Sunday also highlights a diverse array of artists, including Clairo’s indie-pop charm, Key Glock’s hard rap, and Raye’s powerful and captivating voice. Other standout performers include Montell Fish and The Japanese House, each bringing their unique style to the stage.
Fans of alternative and experimental music can look forward to Amaarae, Frost Children, Militarie Gun, and Nourished by Time, while emerging acts like Kyle Dion and Berlioz add even more depth to the day.
