Fiorentina’s rising star, Michael Kayode, has claimed the crown as the Best Italian Talent at the 2024 Golden Boy Award. At just 20 years old, the Bergamo-born fullback is living proof of grit, grind, and glory.
Kayode, who traces his roots to Nigerian parents, began developing his path at Juventus’ revered youth academy. Seven years of dedication there gave him the foundation to spread his wings. By 2018, he took a chance on himself, leaving Juve to find his rhythm. After a brief stint in Serie D, Fiorentina called in 2021, and Kayode answered in style.
From dominating the youth leagues, winning both the Coppa Italia Primavera and Supercoppa Italiana Primavera to locking down his spot in Fiorentina’s senior squad, Kayode has risen undeniably.
His Serie A debut in August 2023 saw Fiorentina demolish Genoa 4–1, with Kayode playing like he’d been there all his life.
By season’s end, he wasn’t just part of the team; he was pivotal in helping the Viola charge to the UEFA Conference League final.
But Kayode’s story doesn’t stop at club football. On the international stage, he’s a force. From steering Italy’s U-19 squad to a dramatic UEFA European Championship win over Portugal in July 2023 to standing tall during his U-21 debut against Norway in October, this kid is built for big moments.
