FROM SOH-SOH TO LUSTROPOLIS: ODEAL’S EVOLUTION IN SOUND

Silky-voiced Afro-swing and Afro-pop artist Odeal unveiled his seventh Extended Playlist (EP) this past week, and it’s a project brimming with such beautiful melodies that it’s nothing short of spectacular.

For many of us in Nigeria, our first encounter with Odeal’s unique sound came when his breakout track, Soh-Soh, swept across the internet.

The song quickly became a TikTok and Instagram sensation, sparking countless dance routines and a multitude of covers. Yet, Odeal is not one to rest on his laurels. Over the past few months, he has been hard at work and the result is nothing short of extraordinary.

The Lustropolis EP boasts seven tracks: Can’t Stay, Modern Day Suicide, Temptress, You’re Stuck, SHOWBIZ, HBTS (Haven’t Been The Same), and Blame U. The beats across the project exude calm energy, yet Odeal’s impassioned delivery adds a striking intensity to every song,  creating a captivating allure that distinguishes each track.

Odeal’s vocal range on this project is remarkable, showcasing both versatility and raw fervor.

His voice carries a beauty that resonates deeply, laying bare his emotions in every song.

Whether evoking fluttery excitement with lyrics of affection or stirring empathic pain with tales of heartbreak, Odeal proves himself a master of emotional storytelling, wielding his sonorous melodies as his most powerful tool.

A standout moment on the EP is the collaboration with celebrated American R&B artist Summer Walker, whose sweet and soulful voice graces You’re Stuck, adding yet another layer of magic to an already enthralling collection.

Odeal has truly delivered with Lustropolis. It’s a testament to his artistry and growth, inviting listeners to embark on a sonic journey.

So, why not listen and decide for yourself?
