KUNLE AFOLAYAN PARTNERS WITH THE U.S EMBASSY TO TRAIN NEW FILMMAKERS

Kunle Afolayan Productions (KAP) Film & Television Academy has locked in a powerful partnership with the U.S. embassy in Nigeria to train a fresh crop of Nigerian filmmakers. Unveiled at the KAP Village in Ikeja, Lagos, this collaboration takes center stage as the third edition of KAP’s Reel Circle program kicks off, throwing open doors for young talents hungry to learn the ropes directly from the best in the business.

Across four immersive days, aspiring filmmakers will get down to work, honing skills in directing and cinematography under the watchful eye of U.S. heavyweights in the field. Afolayan, Nigeria’s celebrated cinematic visionary, shared that this alliance took root during his recent trip stateside.

“We’re targeting the youth, but Reel Circle has space for everyone serious about the craft,” Afolayan revealed.

He highlighted that KAP Academy has previously joined forces with the French embassy and a German firm, enabling over 10,000 young Nigerians to break into the industry, with many now on his team.

The workshop will be led by Angel Williams, an American writer and director, and Erin Wesley, a visual artist and cinematographer, promising hands-on mentorship and the kind of knowledge transfer that can’t be learned from a screen.
