Tyler, the Creator has shared more behind-the-scenes moments from his latest album, CHROMAKOPIA, in a new short film titled MASK IS OFF: CHROMAKOPIA. Released on his Instagram, this six-minute clip offers a deeper, “unmasked” view into the creative process behind the critically acclaimed album. It reveals Tyler in the studio working on various tracks and instrumental layers, showcasing raw footage of him crafting melodies, arranging instrumentals, and recording vocals in an intimate studio setting.
The short film features clips of Tyler perfecting sounds on keyboards, experimenting with horns and percussion, and even using his voice to add unique layers to the backing melodies. The footage highlights work on songs like “I Killed You,” “I Hope You Find Your Way Home,” “Thought I Was Dead,” and “St. Chroma,” providing fans with insight into his meticulous production style. Cameos in the studio include rapper Sexyy Red, recording her verse on the track “Sticky,” and British artist Lola Young, who lends her voice to “Like Him.”
With the tenth anniversary of Tyler’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival and his upcoming world tour, MASK IS OFF: CHROMAKOPIA gives fans a raw, immersive look into his artistry and the album’s impact.
