DENIM TEARS X THE MET REIMAGINE ANCIENT EGYPT STREETWEAR STYLE

Denim Tears, the brand by designer Tremaine Emory, has teamed up with the Metropolitan Museum of Art to launch a new capsule collection titled “Knowbody Nose.” This collaboration celebrates the Met’s upcoming exhibition, Flight Into Egypt: Black Artists and Ancient Egypt, 1876-Now, which explores the relationship between Black artists and ancient Egyptian art.

Inspired by the themes of the exhibition, the “Knowbody Nose” collection includes a variety of graphic apparel and accessories. Sweatshirts, T-shirts, and tote bags feature unique artwork from Emory, inspired by the mystery behind the missing nose of the Great Sphinx, prompting viewers to ask, “How does an artifact from Egypt, or anywhere in the ancient world, end up miles away in a museum in a major metropolitan city?” A hat rounds out the collection with the gallery’s title on its brim, flanked by Denim Tears and Met Museum branding.

The collaboration feels seamless, especially as Flight Into Egypt will also display pieces from Denim Tears’ recent collaboration with Levi’s, including Tracy’s King Tut black leather vest and belt from its Fall 2023 collection.
