For 21 years straight, Lill Wayne has stamped his name on the Billboard Hot 100, locking down his legacy as one of the most consistent hitmakers in hip-hop.
His latest feature on “Sticky” from Tyler, The Creator’s Chromakopia, which also includes GloRilla and Sexyy Red, debuted at No. 14 on the Nov. 9 chart, extending his mind-boggling streak that’s been alive since 2003.
It’s a track record that stacks him alongside Drake, Kanye West, and Nicki Minaj, who’ve carved similar paths, but none with the longevity that’s become his hallmark.
With 187 Billboard hits across his career, Wayne’s kept himself relevant, evolving in sound and staying in the flow of the culture like few others can.
He’s made it look easy, but nothing about 21 years of hits is a casual feat. And yet, for all the recognition, Wayne’s hunger for the spotlight is still raw. He’s been vocal about feeling snubbed for a 2024 Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show slot, something he’s wanted for years, especially with this year’s game set in his hometown of New Orleans.
Roc Nation, tasked with organizing the show, went with Kendrick Lamar instead, leaving Wayne disappointed.
