DRAKE AND CHRIS BROWN HIT WITH $5 MILLION LAWSUIT OVER ‘NO GUIDANCE’

Drake and Chris Brown are facing a $5 million copyright lawsuit for their hit song “No Guidance,” which plaintiffs claim closely resembles the 2016 track “I Got It” by artists Tykeiya Dore and Marc Stephens.

The suit alleges that “No Guidance” infringes on their original work due to notable similarities in chord progressions, tempo, and melody, as well as the similar lyrical phrases “I got it” and “You got it.”

Beyond Drake and Brown, the lawsuit names other contributors to “No Guidance,” including producers Noah “40” Shebib, Vinylz, J-Louis, and Teddy Walton, along with songwriters Velous, Nija Charles, and Michee Lebrun. RCA Records and the associated publishers are also included in the suit.

The plaintiffs claim potential industry connections may have exposed their song to the defendants.

Additionally, the lawsuit challenges YouTube’s handling of a previous copyright complaint, claiming Stephens’ channel faced improper treatment after a takedown request. This case follows a similar copyright dispute over “No Guidance” in 2021, which was ultimately withdrawn in 2022.
