Tega Mavin has officially taken the reins as the new President and COO of Mavin Records. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Tege expressed his gratitude and excitement for this pivotal role, thanking Don Jazzy, Mavin’s founder and leader, for entrusting him with this responsibility. “I’m honoured to step into this new role… embracing new challenges and setting new goals,” Tege wrote, expressing appreciation for Don Jazzy’s unwavering belief in him.
Tega Oghenejobo, commonly known as Tega Mavin, has become a prominent figure in the Nigerian and African music scene, thanks to his long-standing involvement with Mavin Records, one of Africa’s largest and most influential record labels.
Mavin Records was established in 2012 by Michael Collins Ajereh, widely known as Don Jazzy, following the dissolution of the Mo’ Hits label, which he co-founded with D’banj. Mavin quickly became a powerhouse for African music, launching the careers of top artists like Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, and Korede Bello, and playing a pivotal role in bringing Afrobeats to a global audience.
Tega initially joined Mavin Records as the Chief Operating Officer (COO), overseeing operations and helping streamline the label’s functions, including artist management, brand collaborations, and marketing strategies. His background in business and strategic leadership enabled him to work closely with Don Jazzy to modernize the label’s structure and elevate its global reach.
