Beyoncé is reportedly planning to submit her album Cowboy Carter for consideration in the Country category at the upcoming GRAMMY Awards. The move follows her recent losses at the People’s Choice Country Awards, where she was nominated in 17 categories but did not win any, and the Country Music Awards, where she did not receive a nomination.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Beyoncé is targeting the Best Country Album category, where she might face competition from artists like Chris Stapleton, Kacey Musgraves, and Zach Bryan.
In addition to Best Country Album, Cowboy Carter could also be in the running for Album of the Year at the Grammys, which would mark Beyoncé’s sixth nomination in this prestigious category.
The Recording Academy will ultimately determine whether her submission for Best Country Album will be accepted, similar to the process for her 2023 album Renaissance, which remained in the dance category and earned her a GRAMMY win. This genre flexibility is not new for Beyoncé, whose 2016 album Lemonade earned nominations in categories ranging from rock to pop.
The anticipation surrounding Cowboy Carter continues to build as fans and critics alike wait to see how the GRAMMY submissions unfold.
