Lupita Nyong’o has officially been announced as Chanel’s newest ambassador. The Oscar-winning actress, producer, and New York Times bestselling author from Kenya recently attended Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week.
Nyong’o has been a long-time supporter of the luxury brand, frequently wearing their designs, including a Chanel Haute Couture gown at the Academy Museum Annual Gala in Los Angeles last December and attending the Fall/Winter 2024 Haute Couture show.
Shortly after her ambassador announcement, Nyong’o made her first appearance at a regular Chanel show. She gained international recognition for her debut role in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave, a performance that earned her an Oscar, SAG Award, Critics’ Choice Award, Independent Spirit Award, and NAACP Image Award.
In addition to her acting accomplishments, Nyong’o recently launched her podcast Mind Your Own, which focuses on non-fiction storytelling from the African diaspora.
In 2025, she will take to the stage again in Shakespeare in the Park’s summer production of Twelfth Night, starring alongside Peter Dinklage, Sandra Oh, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Nyong’o continues to add to her impressive resume, recently appearing in A Quiet Place: Day One, a spinoff of the popular franchise. She is also well-known for her role as Nakia in Marvel’s Black Panther films and earned an Emmy Award for narrating her children’s book Sulwe for Netflix’s Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices in 2020.
