Bad Bunny dropped a new single titled “Una Velita“ on September 20, 2024. This powerful track honors the resilience of Puerto Rico, particularly reflecting on the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, which devastated the island in 2017.
He can be heard singing, “There were five thousand that they let die, and we will never forget that.” The song pays tribute to the victims of the disaster and critiques the political mismanagement that worsened the recovery efforts.
Produced by Tainy and La Paciencia, the song includes emotional and politically charged lyrics, highlighting the struggles Puerto Ricans continue to face.
“Una Velita” was released unexpectedly and features a visualizer on YouTube where Bad Bunny lights a candle in memory of those affected.
This marks his first release since his previous album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana.
