Nigerian music stars Burna Boy and OdumoduBlvck have both secured nominations for the 2024 BET Hip-Hop Awards, continuing Nigeria’s impressive dominance on the global music stage. The highly coveted BET Awards recognize the best in music, film, and sports, with a particular emphasis on celebrating African-American and African talent.
Burna Boy has been nominated for the “Best Live Performer” category at the BET Hip-Hop Awards 2024. He’s the first African artiste to receive a nomination in this category.
Burna Boy, a Grammy Award winner and global Afrobeats icon, is no stranger to BET accolades, winning Best International Act multiple times in the past. His nomination this year comes on the heels of his continued success on his world tour and with his recent album, “I Told
Them“, which blends his signature Afrofusion sound with elements of reggae, dancehall, and hip-hop.
Rapper OdumoduBlvck, known for his unique fusion of drill and traditional Nigerian rhythms, has also made a splash by earning his first-ever BET nomination. The rapper, whose hit single Declan Rice became a street anthem, has been nominated for the Best International Flow category. Odumodu’s nomination signals the increasing global recognition of emerging Nigerian artists and their influence on the international music scene.
Both Burna Boy and Odumodu Black’s nominations highlight Nigeria’s dominance in Afrobeats and its increasing crossover into global music genres.
