Pharrell Williams has been officially named a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour, the highest civilian award in France. The honour was confirmed on Saturday, July 13. According to The Straits Times, Williams was one of 589 people selected this year. It recognises his influence not just in music, but in fashion, creativity, and global culture.
The Legion of Honour was created in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte. It is awarded to individuals who have shown outstanding merit in civil or military life. The order is divided into five levels. These include Chevalier, Officier, Commandeur, Grand Officier, and Grand Croix. Pharrell has now been added to the list as a Chevalier, which means Knight.
From his Grammy wins to his current role at Louis Vuitton, Pharrell has consistently shaped conversations in both music and style. This French honour adds a new level of recognition to his growing list of international achievements.
