Ib Kamara, the esteemed Editor-in-Chief of Dazed magazine, has announced his decision to step down after a four-year tenure. His final issue is slated for publication in June 2025, marking the end of a transformative era for the London-based fashion and culture publication.
Kamara, born in Sierra Leone and raised in Gambia, relocated to London at the age of sixteen. He pursued studies at Central Saint Martins, where he honed his distinctive approach to fashion storytelling. In January 2021, Kamara was appointed Editor-in-Chief of Dazed, succeeding Isabella Burley. During his leadership, he championed emerging talents and diverse narratives, significantly influencing the magazine’s direction and the broader fashion discourse.
In addition to his editorial accomplishments, Kamara has played a pivotal role in the fashion industry as the Creative Director of Off-White. Following the passing of founder Virgil Abloh in November 2021, Kamara assumed creative control, officially taking on the role in 2024. His vision has been instrumental in guiding the brand through a period of transition, seamlessly blending his unique aesthetic with Off-White’s established identity.
As Kamara prepares to depart Dazed, the publication has yet to announce his successor. His departure marks the conclusion of a significant chapter in the magazine’s history, leaving a legacy of innovation and inclusivity that has reshaped contemporary fashion journalism.
