Loewe, the Spanish luxury fashion house under the LVMH conglomerate, has announced the appointment of Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez as its new creative directors, effective April 7, 2025. The duo, renowned for founding the New York-based label Proenza Schouler, will oversee all of Loewe’s collections, encompassing womenswear, menswear, leather goods, and accessories. They succeed Jonathan Anderson, who departed the brand earlier this month after an influential 11-year tenure.
McCollough and Hernandez first met at the Parsons School of Design in New York and launched Proenza Schouler in 2002. Their debut collection garnered immediate attention, leading to the entire line being purchased by Barneys New York. Over the past two decades, they have been celebrated for their innovative use of materials, particularly leather, and their ability to blend contemporary art influences with high fashion. Their designs have attracted a devoted clientele, including notable figures such as Chloë Sevigny, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Kirsten Dunst.
In a joint statement, McCollough and Hernandez expressed their enthusiasm for the new role: “We are incredibly honored to join Loewe, a house whose values and mission align closely with our own. We look forward to working alongside its extraordinary teams and artisans, whose talent—under the exceptional creative direction of Jonathan Anderson—has shaped Loewe into the cultural force it is today.” They also highlighted their admiration for Loewe’s commitment to craftsmanship and cultural engagement, which resonates with their own design philosophy.
Pascale Lepoivre, CEO of Loewe, welcomed the designers, stating, “Their vision and creativity are a perfect match for the codes of the house that we have built, and I am excited to see them shape its future.” The fashion industry now eagerly anticipates how McCollough and Hernandez will imprint their distinctive aesthetic on Loewe’s storied heritage, with their debut collection expected to be showcased during the upcoming Paris Fashion Week.
