The 2024 Billboard Music Awards, orchestrated by Dick Clark Productions and presented by Marriott Bonvoy, promises another celebration of music’s brightest stars. The stakes are high, the competition fierce, and the numbers staggering.
Afrobeats line up nominees include Rema, Burna Boy, Tems, Asake and Tyla.
Taylor Swift, the most decorated female artist in BBMA history, i, made waves in 16 categories with 17 entries.
The list of artists pulling five or more nods reads like a who’s who of modern music royalty: Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, Teddy Swims, and Tyla all land eight nods each. Bad Bunny, Benson Boone, Chandler Moore, Jung Kook, Naomi Raine, Shaboozey, and SZA claim six apiece, while KAROL G, Linkin Park, and Maverick City Music settle in with five.
For several artists, the BBMA spotlight is a first-time experience. Swims, Tyla, Boone, and Shaboozey join the rookie class, alongside Tommy Richman (four nods), Falling in Reverse (three), Forest Frank (three), Junior H (three), Chappell Roan (two), ENHYPEN (two), Muni Long (two), and The Red Clay Strays (two).
Swift and Drake, forever in a league of their own, stand tied at 39 BBMA wins each—the most in history. They’re also deadlocked at three Top Artist wins apiece, and both are back in the running for the crown. But the competition is ruthless, with Bryan, Carpenter, and Wallen also gunning for the top prize.
The BBMAs are also flexing their evolution with three brand-new categories: Top Hard Rock Album, Top Hard Rock Artist, and Top Hard Rock Song. HARDY is in the mix for all three, while Falling in Reverse and Linkin Park hold their ground in two.
